Farewell to being a student!
Well, this is it, tomorrow i graduate from Lancaster University with a degree! WOW!
Where have the past three years gone?! Seems like only yesterday i moved in knowing no-one and with a little knowledge of biology; now three years later I’ve made some lifelong friends, have -tried to- learn a lot of information (most of which I’ll probably never need to use again), lived in America for a year, made some amazing memories and spent a small fortune on alcohol! But i wouldn’t change any of it for the world :D
So though its goodbye to the crazy uni years and hello to the more serious time of Masters and jobs, life is looking pretty good :)
What is the world coming to?!
Well I’ve just seen something on the TV and feel that I need to have a good rant about it! This lady was being interviewed on a morning news programme (not something I normally watch) and she was talking about how she has signed up to a special website for married people who want to have affairs with other married people in the area. I’m probably going to sound really old fashioned and truth be told I have no experience in this area whatsoever! But it struck me that the whole constitution of marriage seems to have disappeared in this day and age, I thought that when you got married you took vows that were for life not until you couldn’t be bothered anymore? The few high-profile celebrity marriage break ups recently also seem to be giving evidence towards this.
Anyway back to the point, this lady had her name changed and wouldn’t show her face in case anyone she knew was watching and was giving all these reasons as to why her behaviour was acceptable, there was a woman from the website who was also trying to justify the need for this website where married men pay to meet married women for affairs. I’ve seen firsthand the damage to people and families that affairs can cause and wouldn’t wish it on anyone, yet there are websites condoning this behaviour! This is one of those things that shows how much time has changed, 20 years ago divorce was still something seen as a last resort rather than the norm and affairs were a taboo subject never mind them being encouraged!
It’s just made me wonder that if in the future people will bother getting married at all and if it will be normal for people to have affairs?
